This course is an introductory overview of the fashion design and production process and is a great starter for gaining skills for further study or for developing a portfolio for entry into portfolio-based design courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recognition within the VCE and VCE VM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">This course contributes towards VCE and VCE VM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>VCE Contribution:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students who receive a VCE VET Units 3 and 4 sequence for the VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology qualification will be eligible for an increment towards their ATAR (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four studies).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"program-content\"><strong>Program Content<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The Certificate II in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles consists of 13\u00a0units of competency (UOCs) completed over two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Year One UOCs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Work safely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Sew Materials by machine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Work in the TCF industry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Apply communication <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Identify and handle fabrics and textiles <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Assemble simple textile products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Year Two UOCs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Modify patterns <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Prepare and communicate design concepts for simple textile products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Make a simple headpiece<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Draw basic sketches of textile products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Embellish textile products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Prepare, design concept for a simple garment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"additional-information\"><strong>Additional Information<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/stjosephscollegegeelong.sharepoint.com\/sites\/Handbooks\/SitePages\/VCE-VET-Applied-Fashion-Design-and-Technology.aspx#additional-information\"><\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>Entry Requirements:&nbsp;<\/strong>Students wishing to study a VET course will need to complete the relevant application form (in addition to completing subject selections). To be considered for a VET course, students are expected to have sound skills in the areas of learning, reading, writing, oral communication and literacy.
